Choosing the Right Cookware: Enamel, Granite or Non-stick

An enamel pan with a cream interior, a poppy-pattern enamel pot and a red granite pan side by side on a kitchen counter

If you could buy one pan for your kitchen, which would it be? It depends on what you cook. Here are the three coatings side by side.

The body first, the coating second

What decides how long a pan lasts is the body, not the coating. Every Eternity body is carbon steel, which is why all our products work on any hob including induction and are free of aluminium.

The coating then gives the cooking surface its character: release, heat, cleaning and looks.

What do you cook?

  • Soups, stews, rice: enamel pots spread heat gently and resist sticking.
  • Baked dishes: casseroles go from the hob straight into the oven.
  • Eggs, fish, pancakes: non-stick pans let you cook with very little fat.
  • Tea: enamel tea pots hold no smell and leave the brew's taste alone.
  • A first kitchen: multi-piece sets cover everything in one go.

Picking a size

Every size on our product pages carries its diameter and volume. As a rough guide: 18–20 cm for two people, 22–24 cm for four, 26–28 cm for a full house and guests.

The choosing a pot page has a fuller table by hob type and household size.

After you buy

Whichever coating you choose, use decides its life. Our care article starts at the first wash.

Frequently asked questions

Enamel or granite — which is better?

Enamel for wet, slow dishes; granite for everyday low-fat frying. Both sit on a steel body, so it comes down to how you cook.

Is non-stick cookware safe?

A sound non-stick coating on steel is safe at low and medium heat. Do not heat an empty pan hard, and skip metal utensils.

Do all Eternity products work on induction?

Yes. The carbon steel body makes every series induction ready.

How many pieces should a set have?

Seven usually covers a family of four: two pots, a deep pot, a pan and lids. See the sets category.
